1. Johan Jacob BERSY (later Persie) was born in 1707, in Alsace-Lorraine, on the French-German border. From the Lutheran church records at several towns in Alsace-Lorraine as compiled in “The Northern Alsace”, p.55.
2. Johann Ludwig BERSY (also Persie), shoemaker at Neusaarwerden, married 15 May 1737 to Anna Kunigunda Tittel, daughter of Nickel Tittel, schoolmaster at Neusaarwerden. They resided in Neusaarwerden, 1731-1734, then moved to Drulingen, where Johann Jacob Bersy was schoolmaster from 1734-1738. By 1740 they were residing in Waldhambach, where he served as schoolmaster until emigrating in 1752.
The couple immigrated from Saarbrucke, Alsace, Germany on board the Halifax, which arrived at Philadelphia, September 22, 1752. The passenger manifest says they came from Neusaarwerden, Alsace-Lorraine. Their names were recorded as such:

The mother’s name is also recorded as Arua Cimingaudo. Kunigunda is a name native to Germany and Bavaria. John Persie died in Pennsylvania in 1769.
3. Johann Ludwig PERSIE. After immigrating to Philadelphia in 1752 with his family, Johann Ludwig Persie anglicized his name to John Lewis Pearcy. (b. 30 Sep 1735, Johann Ludwig Persie baptized 4 February 1736 at Drulingen. Confirmed in 1749 at Waldhambach. d. 23 Jul 1810 Augusta Co, VA) married in
